How is travel to Kahului, Kona, and Lihue different from travel to Honolulu?

The biggest difference is there are no Animal Quarantine Stations in Kahului, Kona, and Lihue. Therefore, the pet owner is required to submit the AQS-279 form, 2 most recent rabies vaccination certificates, and payment to the Animal Quarantine Station (AQS) at least 30 days prior to arrival in Hawaii.

The pet owner must also schedule an inspection for their pet at an approved clinic for after they arrive. Once the Animal Quarantine Station receives documents and the pet qualifies, they will email the pet owner a Neighbor Island Inspection Permit that will be required for them to board the airplane.
