What qualifies as a PRIMARY rabies vaccination?

A PRIMARY rabies vaccination is the first vaccination of a pet. This vaccination must not be before 3 months of age and is only good for 1 year.

Additionally, any rabies vaccination given immediately after the pet is microchipped, regardless if it is a 3 year booster vaccine or not, MUST also be considered a primary vaccination and good for only 1 year.

Lastly, if a pet’s rabies vaccination expires and there is a lapse in coverage, the next vaccination would then be considered a primary vaccination and good for only 1 year.
